Since moving to Los Angeles, Dr. Pedraza has been providing his services to hospitals in and around Los Angeles for more than 15 years.
Dr. Antonio Pedraza, DVM, MVM, cert SAS, MRCVS, has always had a lifelong passion for animals, and because of this he decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
After obtaining his veterinary license, Dr. Pedraza moved to the United Kingdom to continue his postgraduate training with ESPVS (European School of Postgraduate Veterinary Studies) and BSAVA (British Small Animal Veterinary Association). His focus was primarily in orthopedics, spinal, and complex soft tissue surgery. Dr. Pedraza has received extensive training in Endoscopy and Laparoscopy procedures. In Madrid, he earned a Master's degree in Small Animal Surgery & Traumatology. He then moved to Los Angeles with his wife, a California native.
Dr. Pedraza strongly believes that the key to good veterinary medicine is integrating clinical skills and proficiency with good client communication. He prides himself on being attuned to the needs of his patients and their loved ones. He fosters open communication with his clients and a supportive atmosphere, and firmly believes this will lead to the strongest long-term outcome for his patients.

Approach to surgery
Dr. Pedraza is a compassionate, detailed, and determined veterinarian who performs orthopedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive procedures. He performs the modern cruciate ligament repair techniques — TPLO, TTA and CBLO — and selects the one suited to each patient's size, age, activity level and knee conformation, rather than applying a single technique to every dog. Having moved on from the older lateral suture, he now offers TPLO to dogs of every size, using lightweight titanium implants in small dogs.
Dr. Pedraza works with many rescue groups in Los Angeles. This has provided the most challenging cases due to his patients living on the streets and often found in poor conditions. He believes in putting the pet's care and well-being first over cost. Dr. Pedraza used to work in referral facilities and understands owners' frustration with taking their pets to those facilities. He believes in fair cost and clarity with treatment plans to prepare clients for the procedure and the end cost. He is mindful that great client communication during a stressful period is an essential part of the process.
